DODGE CITY – Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, announced today his personal support for Tim Huelskamp in the Republican primary for Kansas’ First Congressional District. The endorsement stressed Huelskamp’s commitment to protecting life and families in Kansas and his commitment to curbing out-of-control government spending.
“Tim Huelskamp has been a true friend of the family and the culture of life as a State Senator in Kansas,” said Tony Perkins. “I have worked with Tim in Kansas to defund Planned Parenthood and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the House.”
Perkins added that Huelskamp “knows how out-of-control government spending burdens our families.”
About the endorsement, Huelskamp said: “Tony Perkins has been a strong leader in defending life and families across America for many years now, and I’ll be proud to join him in that effort as a member of Congress.”
Tim Huelskamp authored the Kansas Marriage Amendment that passed in 2005 and has spearheaded the legislative effort to defund Planned Parenthood in the Kansas legislature. In addition to Perkins, Huelskamp has been endorsed by dozens of conservative leaders and organizations including Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Rick Perry, Kansans for Life, Gun Owners of America, Congressman Ron Paul, and over two dozen members of the Kansas legislature.
