Senator Huelskamp to AG Paul Morrison:
File Additional Charges against George Tiller

TOPEKA, KS – Relying on the investigation of his predecessor Phill Kline, Attorney General Paul Morrison recently filed criminal abortion charges against the late-term abortionist George Tiller. Morrison alleges a “disturbing pattern” of an illegal affiliation between Tiller and Dr. Ann Neuhaus in performing criminal abortions in the latter half of 2003. But in announcing his decision, Morrison implied there will be no more investigations or charges brought by his office against Tiller.

But today Senator Tim Huelskamp outlined strong evidence of additional criminal activities by Tiller. Using court documents filed by Tiller’s own attorneys and public records from the Board of Healing Arts (BOHA), Huelskamp presented a strong case of Tiller’s continued disturbing pattern of illegality. “The latest public records indicate that the illegal relationship between Tiller and Neuhaus continued from 2003 through to 2007.” said Senator Huelskamp. “Paul Morrison should immediately move to charge Tiller with criminal violations for the hundreds of late-term abortions he illegally committed since 2003.”

In the past few years, Huelskamp has grown increasingly concerned about BOHA and their unwillingness to question these abortionists. BOHA has investigated Tiller on numerous times, but always refused to discipline him. (Each of these actions was at the request of politicians who were recipients of Tiller campaign contributions -- Governor Bill Graves, Attorney General Carla Stovall, and Governor Sebelius.) And Neuhaus has repeatedly been disciplined by BOHA as an “imminent menace to the public,” but has retained her license.

After it was pointed out to him by Kansans for Life, Huelskamp noted that Neuhaus began to claim after 2002 that her only location of practice was her home or a post office box – a strange and dangerous situation for a physician with her history. So he began to question Larry Buening, BOHA Executive Director. “How can you renew the license of a physician whom you do not know where or how they practice?” asked Huelskamp. “But despite these concerns, Mr. Buening never indicated any interest in answering these questions.”

But with the recent court filing by Tiller’s attorneys, suspicions were confirmed. In his Petition to Dismiss, Tiller includes a letter from Buening exonerating him in the abortion-related death of his patient Christin Gilbert in 2005 and also admits that Neuhaus was again the concurring physician.

“While BOHA finds little interest in protecting the public from dangerous physicians,” concludes Senator Huelskamp, “this courtroom admission demonstrates that Paul Morrison must charge George Tiller with hundreds of additional criminal charges.”
