DODGE CITY – Tim Huelskamp, Republican candidate for Congress in the Big First, released the following statement this morning in response to the Supreme Court’s decision in McDonald vs. Chicago:
“This is a great victory for friends of the 2nd Amendment,” said Huelskamp. “As the only candidate in this race who signed the NRA’s amicus curiae brief in favor of this decision and has a perfect record in favor of the 2nd amendment, I am excited to see the Supreme Court defending our Constitutional rights.”
Huelskamp spokesman David Ray pointed out the implications of this decision in the Big First race for Congress:
“Tim Huelskamp is the clear choice in this race for supporters of the 2nd Amendment,” said Ray. “Since Senator Jim Barnett has voted to weaken our 2nd Amendment rights, it is all the more important that we send to Congress the only candidate in this race with an A+ rating from the NRA.”
Huelskamp has also earned the endorsement of the Gun Owners of America and is the only candidate in the race with an A+ rating from the NRA. He has been a leader in passage of the proposed Constitutional Amendment (Issue 1) to protect our individual gun owner rights, passage of our strong conceal-carry laws, prevention of frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers, and putting a stop to government confiscation of legal weapons, particularly during natural disasters.
Huelskamp signed the NRA amicus curiae brief in favor of the pro-2nd Amendment position in November of last year. That press release can be found HERE.
