Topeka, KS – In the last few months, Planned Parenthood clinics in many states, including Ohio, Tennessee, and Arizona, have been implicated in violations of laws protecting girls from sexual abuse. Today, Senator Tim Huelskamp and Representative Lance Kinzer released explosive new evidence exposing a similar institutional pattern of cover-up of sexual abuse in Kansas.
In a conversation recorded earlier this week between a girl posing as a 14-year-old and a Planned Parenthood employee at their Overland Park, Kansas facility, the employee is informed that the young girl believes she may be pregnant by her 23-year-old boyfriend. Planned Parenthood invites the young girl to the clinic for a pregnancy test and possible contraceptive services – and informs the young victim that her sexual abuser can come to the clinic to pick up the contraceptives. At no point does the employee raise any concerns about sexual abuse, despite the fact that the situation described constitutes Aggravated Indecent Liberties under Kansas law.
“This shocking conversation is consistent with a nationwide Planned Parenthood pattern of covering up sexual abuse of young girls,” said Huelskamp. “And as a father of two young girls ages 13 and 12, I am appalled that Planned Parenthood shows absolute contempt for our laws protecting children from sexual abuse. I don’t think it is too much to ask for any entity that receives taxpayer funding to follow our laws, especially those protecting young girls from sexual abusers.”
“In the last two fiscal years alone, Kansans have paid out more than $550,000 to this organization,” echoed Rep. Lance Kinzer. “There is simply no reason in the world why taxpayer dollars should be given to underwrite entities who flaunt laws.” Kinzer and Huelskamp promised to seek budget language prohibiting taxpayer funding of such irresponsible entities.
The Overland Park facility exposed in this recording, Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, is already under serious investigation. Former District Attorney Phill Kline has filed 107 misdemeanor and felony counts against this clinic, including performing illegal late terms abortion and falsifying medical reports. The evidence revealed here indicates that further investigation of Planned Parenthood is clearly warranted.
