Huelskamp Blasts Parkinson Over Vetoes

DODGE CITY – Senator Tim Huelskamp today released the following comments about Governor Mark Parkinson’s vetoes of his two budget amendments concerning EPA regulations and the defunding of Planned Parenthood:

“By vetoing these provisions, the Governor has thrown his political support to left-wing political interests like Planned Parenthood and those who push the alarmist global-warming agenda,” said Huelskamp. “The vast majority of Kansans want their elected officials to stop taxpayer funding of abortions, combat Obama’s cap-and-tax proposal, and resist an out-of-control EPA. Governor Parkinson is ignoring the voice of hard-working Kansans.”

Jeff Glendening, Vice President of Political Affairs for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, said of the Governor’s veto: “We are disappointed to see the Governor veto the Huelskamp EPA amendment. The real beneficiaries of today’s veto are radical environmentalists. We salute Senator Huelskamp’s efforts and thank him for offering this amendment on behalf Kansas businesses.”

Both Huelskamp amendments passed both houses of the legislature with broad support and were vetoed by the Governor today.
