A principled, conservative leader...
In the Kansas Senate, Senator Huelskamp serves on several committees dealing with issues relating to the 38th District. Here is Tim's explanation of each one:
Agriculture
Agriculture is the largest industry in southwest Kansas. And serving on the Agriculture Committee provides a key opportunity for me to represent our agricultural concerns in Topeka. It is a continual battle to represent agricultural interests in an increasingly urban state, but strong representation is critical to the future of rural Kansas.
Natural Resources
This panel handles bills on a variety of energy, environmental, and conservation issues including water and property issues, wildlife and parks, hunting, and pollution. It is a fundamental need for state and federal governments to apply sound science and common sense to our environmental policies.
Chairman, Elections and Local Goverment
As Chairman, I lead this committee as we closely examine many of key important ballot and election issues raised during recent presidential and statewide races. Additionally, we will consider critical elements of government such as ethics, open meetings and records issues, and city and county government concerns.
Co-Chair, Information Technology Committee
Technological development, particularly broadband access, is critical to the economic health of rural America. As Chairman of this panel, I am working to develop strategies and ideas to enhance technological development in rural Kansas, as soon as possible. This panel also closely examines the many information technology purchases made by state government. It is a difficult task - but it is my job to make certain we get the best bang from our technology dollar.

Tim has also led the fight on a number of other issues, including:
Alexa's Law
Tim strongly supported Alexa's Law, otherwise known as the unborn victims of violence act. It did pass the Senate 26-14.
Taxpayer Transparency
Tim led the effort to get government spending on the internet in an amendment to the budget bill which passed 23-17. The bill was signed by the Governor.
Voter ID
Tim worked hard to protect the integrity of our elections by sponsoring a bill to require voters to show their ID when voting. The measure passed the Senate this year, but stalled in the House.
Keeping Spending Low
Tim has resisted efforts to increase government spending in the Kansas Legislature. He is committed to reducing the growth of Kansas government and returning more money to the taxpayers.
