FOWLER - Former Kansas House Speaker and western Kansas farmer Robin Jennison and National Center on Fathering founder Ken Canfield today both announced their endorsement of state senator Tim Huelskamp for Congress.
Jennison and Canfield competed against each other in the 2006 GOP gubernatorial primary. Although Jennison and Canfield combined to win 63% of the vote in the 1st Congressional district, State Sen. Jim Barnett still won the statewide nomination, but went on to lose the general election by a wide margin.
"With his thirteen years as a state senator, Tim Huelskamp has the experience to be a terrific U.S. Congressman," said Jennison. “And as a fellow farmer, Tim understands the unique concerns and issues facing those of us in agriculture and rural America.”
And Ken Canfield added: "Tim Huelskamp combines real-world experience as a farmer from Fowler with a solid conservative philosophy. I am delighted he is running for Congress, and I whole-heartedly support him."
Aside from Jennison and Canfield, Senator Huelskamp has already been endorsed by more than 20 legislators, including legislative leaders in the 1st District such as Representative Peggy Mast, Representative Larry Powell, Representative Jim Morrison, Representative Don Schroeder and Senator Ralph Ostmeyer.
