Huelskamp Leads Exciting Expansion of Digital Democracy
Terming it an "exciting expansion of digital democracy," Sen. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler, touted the Legislature's new capability for interactive hearings Friday.
Chairman Huelskamp and members of the Joint Committee on Information Technology heard testimony via the Internet from the state advisory council for Kan-Ed, an educational computer network. They also heard from university officials at four campuses around the state.
"The technology used in this hearing will set the architecture for 14 hearing rooms and an auditorium currently being designed in the state's Capitol Restoration Project," said Don Heiman, the Legislature's chief technology officer.
The building is undergoing a multi-year restoration and technological upgrade to make it more accessible to the public.
