Senate President Recognizes Sen. Tim Huelskamp for Perfect Voting Attendance
TOPEKA – Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, today formally recognized State Senator Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler, for achieving a 100 percent voting attendance record for the 2009 Legislative Session.

Morris said, “Since his election to the Kansas Senate in 1996, Sen. Tim Huelskamp has never missed a vote. That is an uncommon and impressive record for a legislator. Tim dutifully represented his district on every one of the 386 votes tallied in the Senate this year. His dedication to the 38th District and devotion to the legislative process are clear.”

During the 2009 Legislative Session, the Senate recorded 386 roll call votes. Three hundred and thirty nine Senate bills were introduced, along with 97 Resolutions and 19 Concurrent Resolutions. Scores of House bills were considered. Two hundred and forty-eight of those bills will be carried over to the 2010 Legislative Session. Seventy-six Senate bills ultimately passed and were signed into law; three were vetoed. Including measures that originated in the House of Representatives, 144 total pieces of legislation were ultimately signed into law by the Governor.

Sen. Huelskamp is Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Information Technology, and is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Local Government Committee.

Sen. Huelskamp represents the 38th state senate district. Married with 4 adopted children, he is a farmer. He was first elected to the Kansas Senate in 1996. The 38th district includes Dodge City and Liberal, parts of Haskell and Clark Counties, and the entire counties of Seward, Meade, Ford and Gray.
